Niccola Boyd-Stevenson of the FCSI presenting award to Glenn Roberts

Niccola Boyd-Stevenson of the FCSI presenting award to Glenn Roberts

On the 14th November, the winner of the FCSI Sustainable Catering Equipment Award 2014 was announced at the CESA Conference Gala Dinner. This year’s winner was Gram UK, who entered their latest Generation 5 refrigeration product, the SUPERIORPLUS 72, for the award.

Run by CESA, in association with FCSI and the BHA. The prestigious panel of judges deliberating on the worthy winner of the Sustainable Equipment Product award concluded the worthy winner to be leading energy efficient refrigeration supplier Gram.

Kate Gould (FCSI), one of the judges for the award, commented: “Gram's entry for their SUPERIORPLUS unit was completely transparent and provided all the information required to verify their testing protocol in-line with strict EN 441 standards. They provided the results of their testing both in terms of kWh and cost savings, and provided details on other benefits such as no increase to the cost of the unit and an extended warranty period. All in all, they demonstrated that the company is a leader in the market place in terms of raising awareness of sustainability issues and this new refrigerated unit shows that they are constantly working towards improving the energy efficiency of their equipment.”

Gram’s SUPERIORPLUS 72 provides operators with the most sustainable refrigeration available on the market. Its ground-breaking new levels of energy efficiency mean that it is 35% more efficient than its previous best-in-class predecessor. Energy usage has also drastically fallen to 329kW/year, which means reduced running costs for operators. Gram has also included its 5-year parts and labour warranty with this product, so operators can be confident that they can rely on their investment in the long-term.

Glenn Roberts, managing director at Gram UK, commented: “We are absolutely delighted to have won this award. It really is the ideal way to round off what has been a very enjoyable and informative conference. This award is a real testament to the years of hard work and strategic foresight of our Danish development team combined with the implementation of cutting edge technology to the refrigeration arena. To be recognised by the FCSI with such a prestigious award, cements our position as pioneers in the field of energy efficient refrigeration.”
